Assassin's Creed Odyssey
- Exploration Quest - Hermit's Cave (Kythera)
I pitched this filler quest as "imagine the player explores the area and comes across a cave with a "Gollum-type" Hermit inside who is willing to protect their treasure at all costs."
The gameplay is:
- You meet the Hermit, if you touch his treasure you fight.
- If lie to him, you fight.
- If you stay too long, you fight.
- If you leave nothing happens.
- If you leave and come back, you fight.
//This AMB dialog takes place when the player enters the area of the cave near the HERMIT.
//The dialog is played in loops until we either kill him or interact with him.
INT. CAVE
The Hermit is crazy! Waving his arms around like a loon, and when he talks he never looks directly at the player.
HERMIT
(#yelling)
It's mine! All mine I say!
HERMIT
(#yelling)
Leave! Get out! Trespassing you are!

This is my cave, and these are my riches. I'll kill you if you try and steal them.

As you can see in the video, the team opted to remove the "Gollum-Type" Hermit, and instead, just put a wild leopard inside and no trace of the Hermit except for his treasure.
I really wish the Hermit made it into the game, as not all treasures need to be looted.
